Curriculum and Prospectus

Our nursery staff plan and implement stimulating activities using the FOUNDATION STAGES to provide the children with learning experiences of the highest quality considering both children's needs and achievement and the range of learning experiences that will help them to make progress towards and where appropriate, beyond the Six Early Learning Goals below:
     Mathematical Development
     Creative Development
Knowledge and Understanding of the world
     Communication, Language and Literacy
     Physical Development
     Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Each year, the nursery decides which topics will be covered throughout the calendar year although changes may be made during the course of the year. The topics are then broken down to show which activities will be offered covering each of the six foundation stage.

1. MATHEMATICS
Parents are always welcome to come in and discuss any problems or worries concerning their children. We will try to help and advise in any way we can. We are always willing to explain how, why and what we do in the nursery to provide your child with a caring, secure environment and a solid foundation for future learning in their journey through life.
2. CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
We encourage children to use their creative ability to help express their emotions through painting, collage, drawing and sticking, as well as messy activities for example, shaving foam, spaghetti, corn flour, play dough and sand. We also encourage children to talk about what is seen and what is happening during their play.
3. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD
We teach children about nature and the wildlife in our environment through observations, books, displays, dressing up and cooking. We also teach them about different cultures and religions. We discuss what they have done at home and listen to tapes from around the world.
4. COMMUNICATIONS, LANGUAGE AND LITERACY
We involve the children in singing nursery rhymes, music at circle time, games and puzzles, group discussions and a quiet area for stories and reading. There are opportunities for children to do free writing that is imaginative play, telephone messages, shopping list etc.
5. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
We provide a large indoor and outdoor area where children can practise their physical skills using bats, balls, hoops, bikes, climbing frames, music and movement tapes. Children practise their fine motor skills using equipments such as Lego, building bricks, jigsaw puzzles, activity centres, train sets etc.
6. PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENTS
Parents are always welcome to come in and discuss any problems or worries concerning their children. We will try to help and advise in any way we can. We are always willing to explain how, why and what we do in the nursery to provide your child with a caring, secure environment and a solid foundation for future learning in their journey through life.
Testimonials
At FCC we aim to encourage children to learn by building upon what each child has experienced both at home and in the community. We do this by providing a safe, secure, happy, caring and stimulating environment.
